Quad Lock Mag Case and Wireless Charging Pad

During the Quad Lock Black Friday sale, I managed to get a whole collection of Quad Lock related accessories for the phone. For those who have not heard of it, Quad Lock makes a whole range of accessories to fix your phone to almost any vehicle or surface. From cars to motorbikes to bicycles, you can surely find something that works for you.

A Quad Lock set basically consists of 2 main parts: The phone casing and the mount. If you have a popular phone model, the case would be readily available. Else just use the Universal Mount to stick onto a third party phone case.

The mount would be the interface between the phone case and the car/motorbike/bicycle. It is available in a wide range to suit your needs.

This time, I got a new Quad Lock case for the iPhone 13 Pro Max, and it is an improved version that is Magsafe compatible.

Lots of new Quad Lock stuff! Let's go through them one by one.

New Quad Lock case on the left, with a Quad Lock logo in the center.

The new felt material seems to be thinner, which helps to reduce the thickness of the phone case.

New case on the left has a more matte surface, and a removable accessory ring in the center as you will see below.

Closer look at the different texture. The new case on the left is entirely flat, unlike the older case on the right which has a raised portion in the middle.

Looks the same from the side.

New case on the left is slimmer based on overall thickness.

The side walls are the same height, but the old case on the right has a protrusion in the center where the locking mechanism is.

Here is the main difference. The old case on the right tilts when it is laid on the table.

One annoyance with the old case design was that the phone case will tilt when I try to use the phone with it laid flat on the table. Due to the raised protrusion at the rear, interacting with the screen causes the phone case to move around.

This issue is solved on the new case, where the rear is completely flat. Not only that, the whole case is thinner as well. It is a great improvement which solves the tilting and makes it thinner at the same time.

The ring around the locking mechanism can be swapped out for other colours. Default colour is black.

You can get a replacement Mag Ring in various different colours to personalize your phone case!

I chose the blue colour because it is the official Quad Lock blue. This blue ring has a magnet embedded in it, to replicate the function of the original magnet at the back of the iPhone.

Comes with a little plastic tool to help you push out the Mag Ring from the phone case.

Just push out the original Mag Ring from the inside of the case, at the 4 holes.

Mag Ring removed from the Quad Lock case!

Just press in the new Mag Ring and it is good to go! As simple as it gets.

I also got the Phone Ring/Stand, which locks into the mechanism at the back of the phone case.

It is like a little ring that people stick at the rear of their phone case, so that they can hold it more securely with a finger, or use it like a little stand for the phone.

The Phone Ring is meant to be removable, so that I can use it when I am not putting the phone on the bike. However, I found that there is a design flaw with the Phone Ring.

When attached to the case, the Phone Ring sticks out just a bit above the phone case, which prevents the phone case from laying flat on the table. This recreates the old problem of the phone tilting or sliding around when it is laid on its back. If only the Phone Ring is flat enough not to protrude from the Phone Case.

I also took the opportunity to get a Wireless Charging Pad that is compatible with the new phone case. Not all wireless chargers work well with the Quad Lock case, due to the thickness. The old Quad Lock case did not work with a wireless charger due to the thickness.

Official charging pad from Quad Lock that will definitely work with the Quad Lock case.

Apple MagSafe compatible, so you can use it with many other wireless charging devices as well.

Comes with USB cable but no power adapter.

Comes with double sided adhesive at the bottom of the charging pad, so that you can stick it down onto the table.

As the rear of the Quad Lock case has a magnet to align and secure the phone case to the charging pad, it is necessary to stick the charging pad to the table. Else every time the phone is lifted off the charging pad, the charging pad would stick to the phone case.

Overall, I have been very satisfied with the Quad Lock accessories, as it has never failed me. In fact, I have a Quad Lock mount on every single one of my bikes, so that I can just attach my phone onto the bike easily.
