Focus Paralane: Dura-Ace Wheelset Sub-Assembly

Time to set up the wheelset! I will be transferring the Continental GP5000 tires and the XTR RT-MT900 brake rotors over from the existing Ascent Zenith Elite wheelset. This new wheelset will then be reinstalled onto the Focus Paralane for a 12 speed setup.

GP5000 tires installed! No issues faced during installation, looking good so far.

28 mm GP5000 tires measure 30 mm wide on this Dura-Ace C50 wheelset, which has an internal rim width of 21 mm. More comfort then.

Dura-Ace 12 speed 11-30T cassette ready to be installed.

See how the internal splines of the sprockets matches the freehub body nicely.

Lock ring installed! This is the 12 speed 11-30T cassette, with an additional 16T sprocket over the 11 speed version.

MT900 rotors were already used on the 11 speed Focus Paralane setup. It will be moved to the new C50 wheelset.

Another view from the rotor side

Basking in the light while I assemble the bike slowly. Looks really good.

I noticed that after I assembled the cassette onto the freehub body, it seems that the cassette can move axially along the hub axle.. After some testing, I narrowed it down to the freehub body that is actually moving relative to the hub shell itself. Check out the video below to see what I mean.

Video showing the freehub body being able to move axially along the axle.

What would I do? Check out the next post to find out.
